About Fiberglass Repair in Newport Beach
Fiberglass repair covers impact cracks and punctures, full panel replacement, gelcoat restoration, and delamination correction where the skin has separated from its substrate. OCRV Center repairs and re laminates Newport Beach RV, camper, and fifth wheel fiberglass in shop.
Fiberglass is what most modern recreational vehicles are skinned in, and it fails in two very different ways. Impact damage is the obvious one: a cracked cap, a punctured sidewall, a spider web spreading out from where a branch or a bollard made contact. Delamination is the quiet one, and it is far more expensive. It happens when the adhesive bond between the outer fiberglass skin and the substrate behind it lets go, usually because moisture got in through an unsealed seam, and it spreads outward as a bubble or a soft wave in the sidewall. Left alone it will consume an entire wall. We repair both, and in Newport Beach the coastal humidity means we see far more delamination than owners inland ever encounter.
Problems We Solve
These are the situations Newport Beach owners bring us most often for this work. If yours is not listed, call and describe it. We would rather tell you it is outside our scope than take a job we are not the right shop for.
- Bubbling, waving, or soft spots in a sidewall indicating delamination
- Cracks radiating from an impact point on a front or rear cap
- Puncture or hole through the fiberglass skin
- Gelcoat heavily oxidized, chalked, or faded from coastal sun
- Previous fiberglass patch that is now cracking or has changed color
- Seam separation at a corner or trim line letting water into the laminate
Our Process
- Extent mapping: The panel is tapped and metered to find where the sound laminate actually ends, which is always past the visible edge.
- Moisture source correction: The seam, window, or roof penetration that let water in is sealed first, otherwise the repair fails again.
- Removal and preparation: Failed laminate and compromised substrate are cut out and the bond surfaces prepared.
- Lamination or panel replacement: New laminate is built up in layers or a full panel is fitted, depending on the extent.
- Fair, prime, and refinish: The surface is faired flat, primed, and refinished with color matched to the surrounding panel.

Delamination claims turn on cause and timeline. Photographs of the intrusion path and moisture readings taken at intake are what make the difference.
