About Mechanical and Systems Services in Newport Beach
Mechanical and systems service covers 12V and 120V electrical, batteries and charging, solar and inverters, generator service, fresh and waste plumbing, and appliance repair. OCRV Center diagnoses before replacing, with the diagnostic hour refunded against the authorized repair.
A recreational vehicle carries three separate electrical systems, a pressurized fresh water system, two waste systems, an LP gas system, and a set of appliances that have to run on more than one energy source. When any one of them fails the symptom often shows up somewhere else entirely, which is why the guessing approach to RV systems work gets expensive fast. Our mechanical and systems department diagnoses before it replaces. Diagnostic time is billed at $285 per hour with a one hour minimum, and that hour is refundable as a credit against the authorized repair, which means finding the actual fault costs you nothing when we go on to fix it. Newport Beach owners running solar, lithium banks, and inverter systems for coastal boondocking see us most often for charge management faults rather than the panels themselves.
Problems We Solve
These are the situations Newport Beach owners bring us most often for this work. If yours is not listed, call and describe it. We would rather tell you it is outside our scope than take a job we are not the right shop for.
- House batteries that will not hold charge or a charging system that never reaches full
- Inverter or converter faulting under load, or shore power that trips immediately
- Generator that cranks but will not start, or shuts down under electrical load
- Fresh water pump cycling constantly, indicating a leak somewhere in the system
- Black or gray tank sensors reading wrong, or a valve that no longer seals
- Refrigerator that cools on shore power but not on LP, or an air conditioner short cycling
Our Process
- Symptom interview and system isolation: We separate what actually fails from what appears to fail, because RV faults commonly present downstream of their cause.
- Instrumented diagnosis: Load testing, current draw measurement, pressure testing, and LP leak detection performed by a certified technician.
- Findings and authorization: You get the actual fault, the repair options, and the cost before any parts are ordered.
- Repair and component replacement: Work performed to manufacturer specification with the diagnostic hour credited against the authorized repair.
- Full system verification: The repaired system is tested under real load, and adjacent systems are checked to confirm nothing else was affected.

Insurance Notes
Electrical damage caused by water intrusion or an impact is frequently covered and frequently missed on the first estimate. We trace the harness and document the affected runs so the supplement is defensible.
We bill direct with every major carrier and hold direct repair relationships with several. Read how the claim process works or the 25 things carriers do not tell you about RV and van claims.
