Awnings fail in wind, and coastal wind is exactly the kind that gets them. The failure sequence is almost always the same: the awning is out, a gust catches it, and because the fabric is a sail attached to two arms bolted through the sidewall, the load goes straight into the mounting points. Sometimes you lose the fabric, which is the cheap outcome. Sometimes you lose an arm and it takes a section of sidewall with it, which is not. We repair and replace Carefree, Dometic, Solera, and the other common systems, and on Newport Beach vehicles we spend as much time repairing torn mounting substrate as we do replacing fabric, because the wind here does not politely stop at the fabric.

Body and paint labor is billed at $210 per hour, mechanical and electrical at $260 per hour, and diagnostics at $285 per hour with the diagnostic hour refunded as a credit against an authorized repair.
